Unforgettable 10th Birthday for Kelly

it was my lil cousin's birthday, Kelly and she turned 10 yesterday... we had BBQ/Steamboat @ LeNids (my grandparents house in Green Lane). i was late for the steamboat as i was working and couldn't leave early.. sigh...

i saw the remains (cause i was at WORK!!!) of the lenterns they hung, it seems it looked lovely until they forgot to take pics and then it started to rain... so the lenterns were all wet, there were balloons everywhere

so i started to eat and managed to get what's left of the cooking gas in the stoves that the BBQ/Steamboat caterer gave to cook my food... sadly it didn't last.. so in the end, had to get Anna to char the meats in her own stove.. it was faster too!

... wonders of working... *rolls eyes*

then THE cake came out!!! it was a Cassata cake from Maxims! it's an ice-cream cake! and we had confetti, air horn, pop-pop, singing of Happy Birthday while holding hands and walking around in circles....

if you see it at another angle, the cake's bigger than her head! i swear!!!

then after all the cake eating, time for opening the presents!!! and after the oooohs.. and the aaaaahhhhs and the adults being jealous (yea she got the iPod Nano!!)... suddenly something distracted all of us.... we all had to kay poh to see what was happening outside!

everyone was curious to see what's happening outside, Anna didn't care cause she knew what was happening! LOL but because most of us haven't seen/experience it... we just HAD to go look!!

and there it was... the monsoon drain outside the house was filled with rushing rain water and it had risen to the brim and it was overflowing... at first we were hoping for it to not come in to the garden, but the rain couldn't stop! and the water kept rising.... and it came to the garden!! we had to quickly move our cars to higher ground (outside the gates) and all we could do was just wait for the rain to stop.. and hope the water won't come in the hse and no weird animals swimming in the dirty water....

the rain was raining non stop, the water came up 2 steps but luckily not into the hse, and it lasted for about an hour or more... everyone was taking pictures of the flood, everyone was excited in a way, kids were histerical! lol and Anna was...well, restless and worried cause she knows that there will be lots of cleaning later...

by the time it was about 11pm or so, the rain stopped and the water in the monsoon drain was residing... and water from the compound was going out... there was no more flood.. the flood came as fast as it went away... and Anna started to clean the porch... poor thing, not sure what time she finished...

but you know who enjoyed most from this experience?
