Chicago Rib House - Birthday Song

(to the beat of "We Will Rock You")
*boom boom chak... boom boom chak...*
Oh my God she's twenty six
(backup singers: oh my God she's twenty six...)
She look so young, it can't be true...
(backup: she look so young, it can't be true...)
Listen up and listen good
(backup: listen up and listen good)
We are here to party with you....

RM10 mobile credit bonus

the prepaid line that i use gives us an extra RM10 if we spent RM200 within 3 or 4 months (can't remember)... and i just got a message that i had gotten it...
i don't usually get this bonus because i don't spend RM200 within that period of time.. but when i looked back... i knew how i got it, it was because of the reason i was smilling so much! hahahah....
i was smilling so much that i didn't notice how much i spent on sms.... but unfortunately, somehow it didn't go too well, was not sure why or what had happened but the sms stopped... the communication has stopped.... and i don't know what to think of this...(it's another story) but it's ok... i'm just glad that i had that chance to smile again - it felt good, i felt alive and i felt happiness again.... just wished it could last longer... and wished i can smile like that again....
so... RM10... yeay! (wished it was cash though.. am so broke!)

a wedding...

not mine! of course! hahahahah... get me a bf first, then we'll see when will my wedding be! hahah
it's me besty fren's wedding! and i'm so excited.. but unfortunately, i won't be around for her Tea Ceremony next week.... i would love to be there though...
so the dinner will be this sat in Chai Leng Park and yes, i'm coming back... took leave on fri so that my weekend won't be a rush.... mum's got my bus ticket back on sunday (it seems there's a public holiday on sat.... not sure what it is)
i'm so happy for her! CONGRATULATIONS babe!!! can't wait to see u!

a swim? not!

ever since the pool was fixed at the apartment, i've been wanting to swim in it... but.. somehow i haven't had time.. or couldn't be bothered! hahahha....
this time, i semangat wanted to catch the sun (so that i can burn) because i finished work early today... but by the time i got down, i missed it! i missed the sun.... i still went in for a dip, but the water was freezing... so in 30 mins i got out... it wasn't fun anymore...
u see... where i stay with the family, is in an apartment, on a hill in Gombak... and when u're staying on a hill, it gets chilly or just windy.... and when u have the pool in between two blocks of apartment, it gives limited area for the sun to shine on the pool.... so the only time u get sun on the pool is like from morning, till about 2pm or so.... then after that, it's just freezing water for u....
so it's either i rajin get up early for a morning/noon swim... or... not swim at all... got to find another way of exercise....
this post is aimless.... i'm restless, yet sleepy.. got up 4.50am today... worked at 6am... no life... and i'm broke... :( i just don't know where all the moolah went, my ride, rent, streamyx, petrol, and food.. even all that... still can be broke.. something is wrong somewhere in my budget... *cry*

Tao - Auto City, Juru

Tao is a unique restaurant, it's half half of Japanese and Chinese... the first time i ate in a Tao, was the one in e-gate, Penang - my farewell dinner to KL with the Dugongs..

i remembered at that time that i loved the buttered fish... i was telling my mum that few days ago i was just craving for that fish, and now, sunday lunch, i'm gonna have it! hahahah..

buttered fish

so, this place is different, because it was a buffet... for RM45++ u can order WHATEVER u want in the menu, together with the salad and sushi bar for your disposal!!!... come to think of it, it's actually worth it because every dish on the menu is about RM7 and above, the good ones can go up from RM12 to 22 or so.... with eaters like my parents and i, RM45++ is a good deal!

mum and dad didn't know what this place was all about, luckily (thanks to the Dugongs) i knew what was happening... so i ordered for them, though i had to ask the waitress in plain english and not the actual names in the menu (i have NO idea what the dishes are in the menu! hahha)

lamb chp (top), beef strips with taugeh

teppanyaki chicken kebab

in the end, we were puffed up with food - again and sadly, this would be the last, cause after that i went back to KL

so, this restaurant is on the 1st floor, just above Nando's. it's actually very spacious as it accomodates live bands and outdoor seating for drinks at night. the restaurant itself is very cosy and unique, half the place had "water" at you feet and u had to walk on "stone bridges" to cross over to the other sides... it was fun! hahaha.. but you have to becareful, u may just slip and fall into the water... view is not that wonderful, u'll just see the next building and flats...

i would come back again but not so soon though... it's something where u can indulge but not tooo much, u'll become jelak of it...

i recommend ppl who like sushi to go but if u don't know japanese names for food, i suggest to go with someone who has been to Tao - to order for u... heheheh

arigato!

bday celebrations... Part II

so it continued on till sun, and sunday is when i go back to KL - which sucks big time... i know when i reach kl, no one will be home, the family won't be around and monday, it's back to work...

i got up around lunch time and mum wanted dad and i to go to KofiHaven (in AutoCity as well) for lunch, but when we went there, it was closed... in the end we ended up in Tao - got to eat my buttered fish!! yummy....

it was a rainy day - very heavy... come to think of it, it has been raining everyday since i reached penang!! it's so sad man.. whole day raining..... and i was just hoping that my journey back to kl won't be soo bad...

bout 2pm or so, i started my journey, rained of course.. but half way it stopped, rained stopped nevermind but the traffic jam started... 2 accidents, 1 bottleneck and the second half of the journey, there was construction - that really "made" my day la... u can imagine my mood when i got back....

on monday, i was looking out for "surprises" at work cause we did a major one for MakanKing... and luckily - there was nothing! phew! hahahha...... but i did get a small treat for all of them on tuesday.... got to show them that penang-kia is not kiamsap mah!!! :P

so, the bottom line is.... i had a good bday, with good friends, good FOOD, new experience... but sadly didn't see my cousin... but it's ok, i'll meet up with her when i come down again...

ooohhh ooohhh..... before i forgot... the REAL bday surprised happened when the family and i were having pasar malam dinner at home, as normal, when suddenly they surprised me with a lil very cute cake and a candle!!! hahahhaha... that really ended my bday celebration with a bang!! i was soo shocked! never thought! hahah... thanks u guys! love ya!!! it was just superb!!

Chicago Rib House - Auto City, Juru (Part II)

their menu

so here's part II of the Chicago Rib House review

as i was saying, i went back there for dinner on my b'day... it was supposed to be a dinner with a good friend, dad, and 2 more relatives... but because it was raining, the relatives didn't come - raining and dark, and because it was a family "thingy" my good friend, she was "shy" to come.. so in the end, it was just dad and me - mum was working, she couldn't join us...

so anyway, because mum is so proud of me *rolls eyes*, she goes and tells everyone at Chicago Rib House that it's my bday... sigh... so it seems they are going to "partay" with me.. heheheh....

dad and i ordered... gosh, we wanted to try both the pork ribs and beef ribs... so we ordered one of each.. my gosh.. the portions!! then the Asian Salad but this time with chicken...then.. dad had a tropical juice drink and the bartender came up with a special "purple" concoction for me because it was "my day"... so i was thinking... goodie, "drink"!! hahahah.. so when it came, i asked la.. what was in it.. it had cranberry, grape, strawberry and dunno what else.... but no alcho... so... ok lor.. looks like today, no thani session! hahahha

beef ribs

pork ribs (7 of them..)
Asian Salad with chicken

my "special" purple drink
dad and his "tropical" drink

food came, mum came out and saw us... she still insisted for us to try other food.. and wondered why only the two of us... so we orderd the fish of the day.... so so...it was cooked in cajun.. i guess we were too full to enjoy the fish... dad somehow had space for soup.. so he had normal mushroom cream soup - nothing fancy there...

fish.... the empty space was for the chips, which came later...

then the desert came... i knew they had Shot Glass deserts, so i ordered.. it seems, they had to display or somehow show me what they had.... it took quite some time for them to do so... but when it came, it was in a chest like box!! i thought to myself, don't tell me it's the cake.... see see.. it was a display of 4 shot glasses filled with dessert, and u can pick! there was strawberry and chocolate mousse, mixed fruit yoghurt and apple crumble... i took the choc and dad took the yoghurt (typical)....

Shot Glass desserts in a Chest box

after chatting with dad... mum came over a few times..... then the "surprise" came la....

mum said to listen... i heard thump thump clap... thump thum clap (like the beat to "We will rock you")... they the staff started to rhyme... "oh my god she's 26.... i can't believe it, but it's true...." or something like that la... i couldn't remember.. i never expected THIS! i thought it would be the good ol happy birthday song.... hahahah.... i was too shocked to try to remember the words.. will ask my mum.. and it seems like it's the restaurants song!!! mum said they then later did it to another girl at another table after dad and i left! heheheh

"rhyming" my bday song...

my second cake (mum bought - not the restaurant! hahah - i was fooled)

so there u go... my treatment from Chicago Rib House for my bday! hahah... thank God i'm not staying in BM... if not, they sure fedup with me coming over so often! hahah

remember i said that their treatment maybe different because my mum's working there? well, during dinner, i've been noticing the staff's behaviour with the other customers and it's the same.. so it looks like they ARE like that... friendly, full of smiles and genuine.... so, i believe if u readers go there, u'll get that smiling face as well!! heheh....

enjoy your ribs ppl!!
ps -for my single girlfriends in penang/bm: the manager - Jason, is young and cute ;)

Chicago Rib House - Auto City, Juru (Part I)

* DISCLAIMER : "kitchen manager" with the " marks never meant that she is/was the kitchen manager (or even in the management in charge of the business)... it just meant she somewhat manages the kitchen = works in the kitchen
Chicago Rib House (sister to Tony Roma's and Manhattan Fish Market) is where the good ribs are in AutoCity Juru at this moment... and it has BOTH pork ribs and beef ribs.... i think this is the first on the mainland.. there is a few in Penang island but this is the good shit on the mainland...

what's so special about this place is that my mum is working there, she's the "kitchen manager" (pls refer to the disclaimer) where she's in charge of all the sauces, marinating, preparation of the food and just makes sure that everything is in order in the kitchen - but she doesn't cook the main meals.... salads and deserts.. yea she does that.. hehehe... if u eat there and asks for the Chef, don't expect her to appear.... heheh ... and soo.... as there's witnesses, it's one of the good restaurants - same level as Chillies and TGIF... BUT this has a greater advantage as this has pork! (and of course alco)...hehehhe... (gosh.. i sound like a drunkard!)

and so... today, for a lunch treat, Jess, Brian and moi went to try the ribs.. it was our first time here and wanted to test the food for ourselves.. i know mum told me it's good.. but still.. u HAVE to try it yourself to judge...

so we went.. the place was quite empty eventhough it was lunch time... but i guess business picks up during dinner.... ppl there was all nice and smilling as i think they knew i was "mama's" daughter... yes, the staff there calls my mum "mama" as she's the oldest there and acts like a mother to all of them... hehehe... i'm not too sure if we got that special "smiley" treatment because i'm her daughter or... it's just the way they are... so what Jess and Brian will do next time, is to go again without me and see if there's any difference... heheheh

mum suggested SOOO many things to try.. but there were only 3 of us and couldn't really try all right... so in the end, we got a combo (port ribs and chicken), ceaser salad with chicken and potato skin... last minute order was Asian Salad (mum insisted to order - cause she made it!)... while waiting for Jess and Brian, i started off a Chocolate Martini.. hehehe... first thing i had for the day.... (damn, i should just stop drinking!!!!)

since i titled this post as in Part I is bcause, i'll be going there again for dinner again with dad and 2 aunts - family cum bday makan.... so, more pics later...

here's what we had for lunch (though the Asian Salad was missing, we were too into it that i forgot to take a pic! so-called-food blogger it seems! hahahha fail man!)

combo - pork ribs and bbq chicken with coleslaw and baked potato

potato skin

chocolate martini and ceaser salad with chicken

more updates to come peeps!! and .... eheheh stop drooling! :P

Ajisen Ramen - Gurney Plaza

this was a treat from rosie pig and trevor which was interesting as we didn't really have our normal pigging out on our favs but rosie introduced me to Korean food... hmm... i for one, would not actually go in this type of restaurant to eat but, she gave me a clearer view on what's this about....

pai kut noodles

something spicy noodles

this place is located on the ground floor of Gurney Plaza, next door to McD. other than noodles, this place has sushi as well and appetizers... trevor had salmon sushi, and we all shared octopus, a kind of wantan and lovely toufu dish and my fav teppanyaki chicken.. hehehe

thanks guys for the treat.. sorry it was a last minute decision of me coming down to pg... but it was good to see u again! muacks!!

a baptism...

on sunday, my cousin, Audrey's baby - Rohan got baptised... haven't seen him since he was born so was quite excited bout it....
when i met them at Kristus Aman in TTDI, he was sleeping.. so cute!

the baptism only lasted for about 20 mins or so.... quite fast... then after that we went to Audrey's place for lunch.... we had a convoy of 3 cars going to her place, which was near One Hotel in Damansara... nice place... new, not many units are occupied... lovely pool...

there was catered nasi briani food... lovely... and what's funny, is that i didn't have anything for breakfast and the first thing i had at the lunch was Baileys!! hahahah.... my gosh... and that was my 4th thani session of the week.... after about 3 baileys (on the rocks)... i was red.. (well the weather was hot too!!!) there was wine and whiskey... but i only had baileys ok? :P

here's Andre junior, this is Audrey's nephew (Michael's son).. i haven't seen this lil fellow before and he's about 3 years old (i think)... cute! another Reutens! heheheh... gosh the Reutens boys are really good looking i tell u!! hahahah..... good.. can continue with the Reutens generation!! hahhha

TATTOO

hahahah i know u all think i got inked! hahha... i would - SOMEDAY.. but nah.. i didn't when i spoke about Tattoo....
Tattoo : performance of military band music and cultural acts from across the world
(ref: from HERE)

my colleague's dad is in the organisation and she got most of us at work to go - free tickets! hahaha... i've been wanting to see what's this all about but was sceptical to go.. but since i had free tickets and friends to go with, why not?! right? hheheh... so we went, we went on Saturday and that was the day the King came, so we assumed that the performances will "better" hehehe...
so since it's held in Stadium Merdeka, i decided to park my car at Sentul Lrt Station and take the train to Hang Tuah so that i won't get stuck in the jam and wouldn't want to be stuck finding for parking too!
anyway, some of my friends were already there at about 5pm, only me and Dev, another colleague came later... damn, it was so packed when i reached at 8.30pm! i didn't know it was a big thing? didn't think that ppl would be interested either! hahahha
the show started about 8.30 and ended about 11pm or so.... it was a good experience - new... wished we were at better seats though... we were actually sitting behind the performance! hahahah...
thanks Farah for the tickets!!!
