Happy Chinese New Year!

just a month ago, it was christmas, then 2009 started and now... CNY!!! year of the ox/cow/bull...

i spent my cny at home, getting up at 1.30pm, and watch tv the whole day till now (its 10pm)... what's so good bout tv? nothing actually, was just watching the cny special on the major 3 channels... and god knows what they were saying cause i don't understand!!! LOL

anyway, last night was a good meet up...

it was the 1st official TT for the MyviC and i saw a few new faces.... this time we met at Starbucks e-gate... we were supposed to meet at 10pm but only 4 of us were ON TIME... the rest started to come at 10.30...11...11.30....

anyway, before we left Starbucks at about 12+am, we managed to take some pics... and headed to a new location... the new location was suggested by yours truely but unfortunately, after taking pics of our prized cars, we had visits from a few "pakciks"... that got me nervous as they asked for our names and hung around talking to us.... fortunately these "pakciks" were friendly and left us after about 20 mins or so.....

so to the members, sorry for suggesting that location, i should have known better...

noticed it's lined up as black, white, black, white?

a pic before we went to our next location

a group pic, but not with all who came, some left earlier...

all-in-one

what's all in one you say? it's.....
christmas... with New Year... with Birthday... with Housewarming makan session...
it was supposed to be for about 10 ppl, but someone the others couldn't make it...
anyway, it was held at becky's place, yea they just moved in a few months ago, and the gang didn't really meet for christmas, and new year and also it was her birthday all around the same time and why not?? make it a housewarming party too!!!
so yea, she catered steamboat/bbq from a restaurant, and the guy came with EVERYTHING, from food, soups, sauses, oil, butter, chilly padi, chopsticks, burner, gas, boxes ... whatever la that's needed to have a steamboat/bbq experience in your own home...

(but the guy was rude and sacarstic... so we won't be giving out their co. numbers to u ppl)

we had good eating session, caught up with each other and watching Transformers on what "3Gig HIGH DEFINITION DVD on a 32 inch flat panel with surround sound system" (add in some loud macho, sales man type of voice) ... in the background... hahaha ... more for the 2 thorns actually... the roses were busy eating and steamboating and bbqing...
then dessert came... lovely mini chic pies and apple pies, with overloaded-with-fruits kuniyaku jelly.... then the birthday cake came out and someone missed out one candle, so lucky becky, she kept her age for another year!!!
*cake was from Humble Beginnings - lovely!

after stuffing ourselves with all that food, the boys got us watching The Dark Knight on "3Gig HIGH DEFINITION DVD on a 32 inch flat panel with surround sound system" (again... add in some loud macho, sales man type of voice).... oh and also exchanged of christmas presents!!
it was all good, it was a good night out, with good friends, loud laughs and great food! though we did miss some other dugongs...
anyway, mucho gracias and thanks to our host and hostess for that night!
love u guys!! *hugs*

BBQ Chicken @ Sunway Carnival

BBQ Chicken - Koren BBQ Chicken is locate at the top floor (same floor as GSC) in Sunway Carnival... its right in between hp shops, electrical goods shops, mini waffle and ice-cream shops.... so if u're rushing to go catch a movie, u're sure to miss this place... so walk slow slow and u'll see it (sorry forgot to take a pic of the front of the shop)... they have seats inside and outside overlooking the floors...
i don't know why, but i just thought i'd give it a try... went there with BC and i was surprised that the menu was kinda quality type... not the print-on-A4-with-colour-then-laminate type of menu, but a decent one...
prices too were... errmm.. decent...

anyway it was lunch time so they had this meal thingy where you choose your main meal (depending on the price) and they throw in a drink, soup AND ice-cream... not bad ah!!! so we took that deal and BC choose a steak (chicken) sandwich or something like that.... which (as u can see the portion is quite big) she couldn't finish.. but there's a reason y.. i'll tell u later....

and i had their signature dish, the Korean Charboiled BBQ chicken... and damn it was good.... it's one of the best bbq chicken dish i tasted.. and not only they gave one piece of chicken-chop type of size, but TWO!!!!! and even u can choose your own side dish!!
ok, so the sandwich i think costs around RM12.90 or so and mine was RM14.90... mind you, we took the set lunch, so it was INCLUSIVE or drink, soup and ice-cream!! isn't the price ok?

ANYWAY..... the reason miss BC couldn't finish her food was because the meat/chicken was very oily... yes, and so was mine... as u can see the pic below... that's the oil from my chicken... i had to scrape it off using my knife to lessen the oil on the chicken.... don't get me wrong, i mean it IS delicious but then, health wise, abit too much oil, the chicken even had fat ooozing out from it. to those who love to eat skin and fat, i'm sure they wouldn't mind this....

i called for the supervisor, and spoke to him AND showed him how much oil we had... he said it had to be like that because of the flavour, if not the chicken would be tasteless - it seems.... u know how they cook it? they take the meat from the marinate (that HAS oil) put it to the grill, once cooked, they dunk it back into the same marinate with the oil and straight on the plate..!!! tht's why la so oily... i told them to try to soak it first on a paper towel, or on a rack thingy just to drain the oil... supervisor was not too keen with that suggestion... then i said to at least try / experiment and see if it makes a difference... AND that it's not very healthy eating oil like that...

*thought we'd get a discount... nada... sigh....

but then again, if u don't mind it, go ahead and eat it, it's lovely... i for sure will go back there again... after thinking twice bout the oil, who knows? they did take my advice?

so Christmas and 2008 hand-in-hand came and gone...

yea, they left once again... but as every year, they always leave great memories of friends and family getting together and that's what really count..

this years celebrations were abit quiet, i guess it's the long weekend plus a malaysian public holiday so everyone had their own plans...

went for lunch with parents and granddad, as usual granddad didn't know it was christmas and we were always reminding him why we were bringing him out for lunch! heheheh

dad took a candid shot :P

me and dad

then after a fe days later in the evening, i had a small gathering of friends (and new friends) at my bbq....

some of the active members of the MyviClub

and when i was about to give up hope for the countdown (a few promised that they'll include me in but in the end said they had their own plans), i managed to get a similar fated friend who had nothing to do for countdown either... so, we ended up having a great porky and ribby dinner and somewhat pathetic fireworks display! hahaha at least there was abit of drinking, sort of... heheheh

Chicago Pork Ribs (sister co. of Tony Roma's)

yes, i had to work night shift on New Year's Night (9pm to 9am)

2008 was very adventurous, stressful and somewhat depressing year for me and i do hope 2009 would be much better (eventhough the economy sucks) for myself and for all of you!
