KofiHaven at AutoCity, Juru

before my mum got the job at Chicago Rib House, she tried apply for a job here in KofiHaven (also in AutoCity, Juru) so she knew the boss and what type of food they were offering.. anyway, i don't know why but mum wanted me to try this place for so long.... so i thought, ok la.. lets see what's so nice about this place...

menu was ok, had variety of local and western steak, sandwiches and pasta... didn't really know what to order, luckily they had a set dinner... so, ok la.. since the owner recommended it.. i went for the seafood platter...
funny the set dinner had no drinks, so we had to order extra drinks to go with it... i had my chocolate milkshake... it was so so.... quite watery actually.. more of choc milk than the ice or the ice-cream... and i think mum's ice-lemon-tea was... "instant"... (which is not surprising cause MOST of the restaurants out there do the same thing)

the soup that came with the set dinner was asparagus soup.. which... neither my mum and i take.. so we requested if the chef could cook up something other than that for us.... in the end, mum had the normal mushroom soup, and i had tom yam.......it.. was so so as well, quite spicy though...

my seafood platter - muscles, prawns and squid

mum's mexican beef tortillas (i think that's what it's called)
the ever so famous desert - brownie and ice-cream

(thought it was more of choc cake than it was a brownie)

what i can say that's nice here is the atmosphere.. cosy, quiet, comfy (they had sofa sets) and the outdoor area was very "woody"... lots of plants, fountain, rocks.... nice place for a drink, chat with old friends... just to hang out... well that's what i did with my mum there ;)

J.Co Donuts at Pavillion Bukit Bintang

my fellow blogger at work was SOOOoooo free that he just HAD to tempt us everyone at work (including those who are puasa-ing) with these donuts... he found out about this from another blog.... so he posted the post in email and sent to everyone...
so, as u can imagine la... ppl at work all started to drool... luckily one of our fellas was leaving early (he was on the earlier shift) including myself and another girl.. he decided to bring the 2 of us to J.Co at Pavillion (new shopping mall in KL /Bukit Bintang) to check out the place and buy their donuts... since we had like nearly 2 hrs before the dept closed, everyone made orders with us (including my boss... hehehe)
we knew where Pavillion was didn't really know where to park, but we did managed to find the basement parking and eventually found the shop...
the mall was something like KLCC yet more grander... like Lot 10 type... but obviously it's still new so there's still more shops to open... the food outlets were mostly the first to open and the big (and EXPENSIVE) brands were opened too...
finally we found J.Co... it wasn't that hard to find as it's the same floor as Tony Roma's, some Japanese restaurants, Chinese/HK restaurants and ooh Carl's Junior is opening too... and when we reached J.Co... there was a loooong line (sorry... QUEUE i mean :P )
that didn't deter us... we snooped around, looking at what they were offering and started to decide what we were gonna choose... the variety was awesome though i think they had more but because of the "queue"... everything was running out fast... it looked more tasty than Dunkin Donuts (sorry).. couldn't wait to get my hands on one to taste...
finally it was our turn and at the end, all 3 of us combined, we had about 6-8 boxes of donuts! hahahhaha u could just imagine what it was like when we brought it back to the office! everyone was excited...
here's my dozen (was to bring half back to BM that same night)

prices were a teeny weeny bit higher than your normal donuts, one would cost RM2.30 but of course, the more u buy, the cheaper it gets... so a box of 1/2 dozen, it's about RM11 and for a dozen, RM19 (i think... can't really remember the prices)
when i had my first bite.. i tell u... O M G !! it was fresh, it was light (though it was abit too sweet).... i just had to have one bite of nearly each of the donuts i got so that i had the chance to taste the different tastes (sorry family! hehehhe) so much better than Dunkin Donuts i tell u.... and they say, it's like Krispy Kreme in the US... that's something i will have to find out myself.. heheheh

so to my dugongs, i know u ppl are coming to KL to makan next weekend.... u GOT TO try J.Co.... at LEAST one donut.. ok? :) can't wait to see u ppl!

stomach exercise?

i've found a new way to work your stomach.... by having a REALLY really BAD cough... as u all know (or not).. i've been having this really bad cough since last week when i went back home... it's still bad.. went to two docs.. nothing much changed... though the sec one gave me antibiotics cause my tonsils are swollen... as usual...
so anyway, i've been coughing like a sick dog for the past few days, and all i can say, i think i'm building up stomach muscles!! (hahahah.. yea right!) .. why i say that? cause my stomach muscle hurts... it feels like i just did a damn hard tummy work out.... and i'm also tired from coughing sooo much...
am on mc today... but i don't think i can still take calls tomorrow... sigh... but because i'm a "loyal employee", i'm going to work tomorrow.... :(
please GO AWAY cough!!!

yeap, it was her wedding!

i went back home for the weekend for her wedding... i was excited yet nervous... nervous why? i dunno.. hahaha.. maybe because of meeting old friends? but i knew who was coming.. so that was good...
the dinner was at a teow chu restaurant in Chai Leng park... and the card did say 7.30pm sharp... but then again, u know la, malaysian time... hahahaha..
when i reached, she was standing outside all beautiful and pretty! (of course! it's HER day.. she should look wonderful!) and our girls were there, yoke phui and ai gaik.... the last time i saw those two was at mei cheng's wedding! hahahah
then there was the guys... an old friend whom i followed back from kl... and another old friend... kenny... same gang long long time ago... the dancing-st.anne's-5.30pm-sunday-evening gang! hahaha... it was soo good to see them again...
when we went in, there were some Info fellas... gosh, they look so different, couldn't recognize them at first!.. hahaah.... and of course, our mr dugong was a lil bit late... heheheh... surprisingly, after soo long we all didn't meet each other, we could straight away click like we never lost touch and not 7 years ago! hahahahah

our table and lil something something from her to us

from left - kenny, lenny and ai gaik

here comes the bride... all dress in...err... green.... hehehe

(u look wonderful babe!)

mr ben dugong and moi

everyone at our table! all full with food :P

i was talking to her and i realised that at that table, i lived 4 lives!!! one would be being a dugong, then an Info student, then i hung out with the dancing gang at 5.30pm at st.anne's every sunday evening, then my schoolmates in CBM... and all of them, don't exactly mix! hahahah... except i met the dugong and Info ppl AT Info ler... but then again... it just sprang to me that - i was in totally different types of groups and i love everyone of them! they made my life meaningful and i'm grateful for that...

so it was a good nite for me and i'm sure for her, seeing all her good friends coming together as one to celebrate her union

too bad i can't make it for the tea ceremony this thursday.... but i really do hope it turns out well and smoothly... (u know, i haven't actually been to a tea-ceremony before.. hmmm it would be interesting! maybe when i get married, i'll have one - cause, i AM half chinese - how i found out, that's another story)

to my babe! CONGRATULATIONS again and dun be afraid to use the crystals ya.. it's MEANT to be used! heheheh

Shopping tips from the ladies

so i got tagged by the famous 5xmom on shopping tips... i don't really call myself a shopaholic though i do sometimes enjoy the window-shopping that i do....
anyway, # 5 is mine... :)
~ Start copy ~

It’s very simple. When you receive this tag, copy the whole list and add your own shopping tip to the bottom and pass it on.

1. Wear comfy clothing when you’re shopping. You don’t wanna fuss with too many laces and buttons when you’re trying clothes on. http://rinnah-marketplace.blogspot.com

2. When buying pants or jeans, try to try them on with a pair of heels so you know its the right length. If you don’t and wear it with heels later, you might find that it hangs at an awkward length. http://www.all-aboutshopping.com

3. We are always lure to buy the latest lipstick colour in town. Before you respond to magazine’s review and recommendation, make sure you try on the colour and walk around for a while before deciding to purchase it. Lipstick colour looks different when it’s absorbed on the lips and lightings can alter the way you look too. This will avoid buying a lipstick that doesn’t look so great on you afterall http://www.dorisgoshopping.com

4. Don’t buy bras just before your period! I have big boobs just before period and the boobs deflated after my period, making the bra looks ‘unfull-filled’ Same thing with buying shoes in the evening. Your feet are bigger in the evening. Women Only!
5. Would like to add to the jeans-buying tip, when u buy jeans or pants, in the dressing room make sure u squat, sit, bend ..etc so that you will know how low the back of the pants will go, how tight it is at the croch and thighs... this is to ensure that the pants has a nicely fit. also ask if the pants are stretchable as the more you wear, the more looser the pants will be... :) http://shimmers999.blogspot.com

~ End copy ~
and now.. i tag...

RM10 mobile credit bonus

the prepaid line that i use gives us an extra RM10 if we spent RM200 within 3 or 4 months (can't remember)... and i just got a message that i had gotten it...
i don't usually get this bonus because i don't spend RM200 within that period of time.. but when i looked back... i knew how i got it, it was because of the reason i was smilling so much! hahahah....
i was smilling so much that i didn't notice how much i spent on sms.... but unfortunately, somehow it didn't go too well, was not sure why or what had happened but the sms stopped... the communication has stopped.... and i don't know what to think of this...(it's another story) but it's ok... i'm just glad that i had that chance to smile again - it felt good, i felt alive and i felt happiness again.... just wished it could last longer... and wished i can smile like that again....
so... RM10... yeay! (wished it was cash though.. am so broke!)

a wedding...

not mine! of course! hahahahah... get me a bf first, then we'll see when will my wedding be! hahah
it's me besty fren's wedding! and i'm so excited.. but unfortunately, i won't be around for her Tea Ceremony next week.... i would love to be there though...
so the dinner will be this sat in Chai Leng Park and yes, i'm coming back... took leave on fri so that my weekend won't be a rush.... mum's got my bus ticket back on sunday (it seems there's a public holiday on sat.... not sure what it is)
i'm so happy for her! CONGRATULATIONS babe!!! can't wait to see u!

a swim? not!

ever since the pool was fixed at the apartment, i've been wanting to swim in it... but.. somehow i haven't had time.. or couldn't be bothered! hahahha....
this time, i semangat wanted to catch the sun (so that i can burn) because i finished work early today... but by the time i got down, i missed it! i missed the sun.... i still went in for a dip, but the water was freezing... so in 30 mins i got out... it wasn't fun anymore...
u see... where i stay with the family, is in an apartment, on a hill in Gombak... and when u're staying on a hill, it gets chilly or just windy.... and when u have the pool in between two blocks of apartment, it gives limited area for the sun to shine on the pool.... so the only time u get sun on the pool is like from morning, till about 2pm or so.... then after that, it's just freezing water for u....
so it's either i rajin get up early for a morning/noon swim... or... not swim at all... got to find another way of exercise....
this post is aimless.... i'm restless, yet sleepy.. got up 4.50am today... worked at 6am... no life... and i'm broke... :( i just don't know where all the moolah went, my ride, rent, streamyx, petrol, and food.. even all that... still can be broke.. something is wrong somewhere in my budget... *cry*

Tao - Auto City, Juru

Tao is a unique restaurant, it's half half of Japanese and Chinese... the first time i ate in a Tao, was the one in e-gate, Penang - my farewell dinner to KL with the Dugongs..

i remembered at that time that i loved the buttered fish... i was telling my mum that few days ago i was just craving for that fish, and now, sunday lunch, i'm gonna have it! hahahah..

buttered fish

so, this place is different, because it was a buffet... for RM45++ u can order WHATEVER u want in the menu, together with the salad and sushi bar for your disposal!!!... come to think of it, it's actually worth it because every dish on the menu is about RM7 and above, the good ones can go up from RM12 to 22 or so.... with eaters like my parents and i, RM45++ is a good deal!

mum and dad didn't know what this place was all about, luckily (thanks to the Dugongs) i knew what was happening... so i ordered for them, though i had to ask the waitress in plain english and not the actual names in the menu (i have NO idea what the dishes are in the menu! hahha)

lamb chp (top), beef strips with taugeh

teppanyaki chicken kebab

in the end, we were puffed up with food - again and sadly, this would be the last, cause after that i went back to KL

so, this restaurant is on the 1st floor, just above Nando's. it's actually very spacious as it accomodates live bands and outdoor seating for drinks at night. the restaurant itself is very cosy and unique, half the place had "water" at you feet and u had to walk on "stone bridges" to cross over to the other sides... it was fun! hahaha.. but you have to becareful, u may just slip and fall into the water... view is not that wonderful, u'll just see the next building and flats...

i would come back again but not so soon though... it's something where u can indulge but not tooo much, u'll become jelak of it...

i recommend ppl who like sushi to go but if u don't know japanese names for food, i suggest to go with someone who has been to Tao - to order for u... heheheh

arigato!

bday celebrations... Part II

so it continued on till sun, and sunday is when i go back to KL - which sucks big time... i know when i reach kl, no one will be home, the family won't be around and monday, it's back to work...

i got up around lunch time and mum wanted dad and i to go to KofiHaven (in AutoCity as well) for lunch, but when we went there, it was closed... in the end we ended up in Tao - got to eat my buttered fish!! yummy....

it was a rainy day - very heavy... come to think of it, it has been raining everyday since i reached penang!! it's so sad man.. whole day raining..... and i was just hoping that my journey back to kl won't be soo bad...

bout 2pm or so, i started my journey, rained of course.. but half way it stopped, rained stopped nevermind but the traffic jam started... 2 accidents, 1 bottleneck and the second half of the journey, there was construction - that really "made" my day la... u can imagine my mood when i got back....

on monday, i was looking out for "surprises" at work cause we did a major one for MakanKing... and luckily - there was nothing! phew! hahahha...... but i did get a small treat for all of them on tuesday.... got to show them that penang-kia is not kiamsap mah!!! :P

so, the bottom line is.... i had a good bday, with good friends, good FOOD, new experience... but sadly didn't see my cousin... but it's ok, i'll meet up with her when i come down again...

ooohhh ooohhh..... before i forgot... the REAL bday surprised happened when the family and i were having pasar malam dinner at home, as normal, when suddenly they surprised me with a lil very cute cake and a candle!!! hahahhaha... that really ended my bday celebration with a bang!! i was soo shocked! never thought! hahah... thanks u guys! love ya!!! it was just superb!!

Chicago Rib House - Auto City, Juru (Part II)

their menu

so here's part II of the Chicago Rib House review

as i was saying, i went back there for dinner on my b'day... it was supposed to be a dinner with a good friend, dad, and 2 more relatives... but because it was raining, the relatives didn't come - raining and dark, and because it was a family "thingy" my good friend, she was "shy" to come.. so in the end, it was just dad and me - mum was working, she couldn't join us...

so anyway, because mum is so proud of me *rolls eyes*, she goes and tells everyone at Chicago Rib House that it's my bday... sigh... so it seems they are going to "partay" with me.. heheheh....

dad and i ordered... gosh, we wanted to try both the pork ribs and beef ribs... so we ordered one of each.. my gosh.. the portions!! then the Asian Salad but this time with chicken...then.. dad had a tropical juice drink and the bartender came up with a special "purple" concoction for me because it was "my day"... so i was thinking... goodie, "drink"!! hahahah.. so when it came, i asked la.. what was in it.. it had cranberry, grape, strawberry and dunno what else.... but no alcho... so... ok lor.. looks like today, no thani session! hahahha

beef ribs

pork ribs (7 of them..)
Asian Salad with chicken

my "special" purple drink
dad and his "tropical" drink

food came, mum came out and saw us... she still insisted for us to try other food.. and wondered why only the two of us... so we orderd the fish of the day.... so so...it was cooked in cajun.. i guess we were too full to enjoy the fish... dad somehow had space for soup.. so he had normal mushroom cream soup - nothing fancy there...

fish.... the empty space was for the chips, which came later...

then the desert came... i knew they had Shot Glass deserts, so i ordered.. it seems, they had to display or somehow show me what they had.... it took quite some time for them to do so... but when it came, it was in a chest like box!! i thought to myself, don't tell me it's the cake.... see see.. it was a display of 4 shot glasses filled with dessert, and u can pick! there was strawberry and chocolate mousse, mixed fruit yoghurt and apple crumble... i took the choc and dad took the yoghurt (typical)....

Shot Glass desserts in a Chest box

after chatting with dad... mum came over a few times..... then the "surprise" came la....

mum said to listen... i heard thump thump clap... thump thum clap (like the beat to "We will rock you")... they the staff started to rhyme... "oh my god she's 26.... i can't believe it, but it's true...." or something like that la... i couldn't remember.. i never expected THIS! i thought it would be the good ol happy birthday song.... hahahah.... i was too shocked to try to remember the words.. will ask my mum.. and it seems like it's the restaurants song!!! mum said they then later did it to another girl at another table after dad and i left! heheheh

"rhyming" my bday song...

my second cake (mum bought - not the restaurant! hahah - i was fooled)

so there u go... my treatment from Chicago Rib House for my bday! hahah... thank God i'm not staying in BM... if not, they sure fedup with me coming over so often! hahah

remember i said that their treatment maybe different because my mum's working there? well, during dinner, i've been noticing the staff's behaviour with the other customers and it's the same.. so it looks like they ARE like that... friendly, full of smiles and genuine.... so, i believe if u readers go there, u'll get that smiling face as well!! heheh....

enjoy your ribs ppl!!
ps -for my single girlfriends in penang/bm: the manager - Jason, is young and cute ;)
