CHOICE KL unofficial visit

i met these lovely people in KL when i stayed over at Carol's place and when i heard them coming over to Penang, massive hayvok i tell you!!! hahahahh all i can say is that they've been FED WELL!! hahahah... up to a point that one or two of them had indigestion problems... ENO time! aawww... but they were alright in the end, no worries.

it was good to meet up with them again, good laughs, catching up and made new friends too, i'm sure whenever we (penang peeps) go to KL, we will be taken care of as well :) after all that eating we headed to the appartment that they were renting for the night for some drinks. well no one got totally drunk, everyone was tired but we did have some good (and not so good) cocktails... lol
the only 2 boys who came were good sports, eventhough the girls were just loud and crazy and well... u know... but it was nice to have em around, gives the group some different perspectives, so to say la... :P
and whatdya know!! they had a surprise birthday cake for Audrey and me!! so nice!! and it was my favourite cake from Secret Recipie - Chocolate Banana cake!! yummy!! i had like 2-3 servings... and tapao some back muahahahahah!!!

thanks girls (and guys) for the lovely company and laughs and cake! missing you already! hope to see you soon k! *huggies*

brief KL trip

this short trip to KL was some time ago. it was one of those times which i missed KL and wanted to go back to see some peeps, catch up and taste some of KL food. mum followed me this time, she too spent some time with her sister and caught up with her cousin while i do my rounds.. hehehhe
first up, lunch with mum and godma - godma suggested this place EuroDeli at Damansara Kim. i have heard of EuroDeli but never thought of going, wonder why. maybe i thought it was a sandwich place... anyway, yea, i'm glad she suggested this place... all they had was pork pork pork and occasionally some beef and chicken (not sure if they had fish though)

pork chop

snack : bbq ribs (yes.. it's a snack stated in the menu)

EuroDeli was for lunch... now after some shopping, driving here, walking there, we all got abit hungry and tired at the same time. KL pasumbur sounded like a good idea. i've heard alot regarding TTDI pasumbur and since we're just 5 mins away, we tapao-ed some home. and gosh, it WAS quite nice.... :D lovely! i never knew.....

godma mixing the pasumbur for us

after some catching up and a nap, i got ready for dinner with the Attic folkes (Ramesh and Chocky, missed Luna though....) and Sam. we met up at Frontera (Jaya One) as i've never been there before. thought of trying the hottest chilly but i'm chicken shit like that... :P so i went for their Chef's recommended burger.

Chilly Beef Burger (it's on their signboards outside and everywhere)
never had a hard time finishing a burger before.... YUMMY i tell u!!

Sam had probs with his as well... hahahaha

ever so funny Ramesh!

it was so nice to catch up with these peeps of mine, refreshing, funny and really missed hanging out with them... (another reason in wanting to go back to KL). thanks guys for hanging out with me. and i do hope to see u soon ya!

the next day i paid a visit to my Detailing guy, Albert for some car pampering :) so while he did his magic, mum and i had a KL breakfast, what i got was spicy pan mee (Kota Damansara - near ProDetailers). it was surprisingly lovely! we do have pan mee here in Penang but this was abit different, spicy yet not too hot and abit sweet i believe. just nice.

then mum and i headed to The Curve (while waiting for my car) and did abit of window shopping. Debenhams was not on sale so :( and we then headed to IKEA - of course! got a few stuffs as well AND got to dig into their meatballs!!! woot woot!!! what a way to end my trip :)

this trip was short and sweet. did what i wanted to do. next trip will try to meet up with another group of peeps.. AND try new places to eat. :) till the next trip!

Marche Restaurant @ The Curve, Kuala Lumpur

Marche Restaurant in The Curve, Damansara, KL is like a Swiss Market Restaurant. It seems that they do have such restaurants in Switzerland and i really like the concept. accept that u can't really have the REAL market restaurant here cause it'll be very unhygenic (if u have gone to our local malaysian wet markets.. lol)
i never been here before and i didn't really know how this system works. but the friendly staff of Marche guided us through the system. each person has a card, and when you go to the "market" to make your order (salads, drinks, mains, appetizers, soups...etc) they will stamp something on the card to show that you have ordered something. once u have gotten your food, and finished, just bring the card to the cashier and they'll calculate the bill for you.

one thing i see here is that with that system, they really trust their customers. i mean, what if they eat and drink and get the card stamped, but in the end not pay and just walk out? of course if the place is empty, the staff would easily identify and know if u paid or not, but what if there's a crowd? hmm...
i came here with dad on a very quick-limited-time trip to KL. so we didn't have the luxury to browse through the restaurant and enjoy the food properly and soak the place in. we went straight for pasta (which we thought was the quickest food to cook), quick browse through the dessert area and drinks area and decided on what to get

i spotted this bread pudding and vanilla sauce, i just had to get it - lovely!

pasta with cream sauce and turkey bacon, with some onions and veg - quite nice

dad had this fruit butter cake for dessert - simple and nice as well

i would definately go back to have a proper meal, without any time limit, to go through the market and have a variety of food and enjoy it. i saw some steaks and fish as well, but like i said, didn't have the time. so far, this quick trip, it did give me a good 1st impression and i can't wait to go back there again :) i'll see u soon Marche!

my version of "balik kampung"

after bout 6months i didn't go "back".. i finally decided it was time to make a trip, short or not, i would go, cannot tahan dee... so i made a few calls, arranged acco with Godma and planned to go down with mum, i even managed to "catch" a good friend to balik with me (and share the cost as well). but then the night before, mum was sick with flu, cough and the works. i couldn't cancel the trip to last minute and if i did, i would be cancelling with the others the 2nd time!! so anyway, luckily i still had some co. to ride with me and of course to catch up with him. thanks Mr.Ghouse for teman-ing me for that..wat, 3 hrs? ride? heheheh

nasi lemak -highway stop with Zhafri

we left at around 7.30am on a monday and we reached Ampang, around 11am... good journey, no traffic, nice weather... just that was hoping we could share the driving, but our friend here had an expired driving license, as punishment, he had to stay awake to keep me co. and to prevent me from falling of to sleep while behind the wheel... yea i slept like 3am or so the night before...
so after dropping YB back, i headed towards my godma's place at TTDI, just driving around KL puts a smile on my face :D caught up with Godma, then after all that talking, we realised it was 1+pm and both of us were hungry, so we ended up at The Curve (cause i wanted to check out Debenhams - got sale!!) and had some Italiannis pasta.. yum yum... when u're in KL, eat what you don't get in Penang - ever!

now because this post is a few weeks late, i can't remember if i had a nap after lunch/shopping with Godma before going out again for dinner... hmm...
anyway, i planned to meet the ex-Dlinkers (and ex-Datacom) for dinner at Delicous @ MidValley (again, when in KL do not eat Penang food! - had to scold Farah for suggesting Lil Penang for dinner!) was still full from late lunch, so i had a salad... heheheh trying to be "good" konon-nya la...

finally got my bear-hug from Donny and the usual from Farah!
*miss you guys already*

Farah + Donovan (Dlink team), Sam (MS team)

now what did i do after dinner... nah, nothing, i went back to Godma's and continued chatting with her and helping her out with her new lappy.. heheheh... wat i was excited was the appointment i had the next day... heheheh
yup yup, pampering my car by Albert @ ProDetailers . he really did a good job for me, my car looked like new when it was done! i could just give my car a good hug and never want to bring it out in the open! LOL. managed to catch up with Albert for a while and he dropped me at The Curve again - this time i went to IKEA. :D

since i didn't have breakfast yet, i tahan-ed until i was in IKEA, done with homefurnishing and headed towards my meatballs at the cafeteria! YUM!! it was orgasmic!! i remember that few times i went there, they were not serving meatballs, i think they knew i was coming so.. heheheh *salivating now.....

then i remembered, that Mel was working around the neighbourhood AND had a flexible work time, so, i messaged to see if she could meet me for lunch, and she COULD!! sweetness!! though it was a short meetup - it was nice seeing her again after the brief meetup at the DEFINE party a week ago or something in Autocity. we had lunch at The Apartment, hoping i could get some Cuppacakes, but i think they stop selling through The Apartment.

when my beloved was done, Albert came to fetch me to get my beloved back and said my farewell to Albert. hoping to visit him again - sooner! was so knackered after that, that i had to have a nap, boy that was good, i was fresh again and ready to party! literally!!! yup, had made plans to meey my cousin Andre to check out the new work-place of DJ AaronC at CocoBanana @ Sunway Piramid. yup, he FINALLY left Beach Club! good for him.
BUT before partying, i headed towards Cyberjaya (yea i got caught in the after work traffic!!) to meet with more ex-Dlinkers for dinner. managed to get there in time :D it was good to meet up with Eddie and Monica. we talked bout our jobs (and how greener it is on the other side), life, love life, family, friends and how they changed and catch-up on other ex-Dlinkers. i somehow get refreshed and re-motivated after talking to these ppl.... :)

so after makan and chit-chatting, i headed towards Sunway Piramid to meet up with Andre. because we were early, and the club was empty -even at 11pm (Tues night - what do you expect?) we had a drink at Starbucks to catch up and that we should do this more often - go clubbing, now that he has more time :D
anyway, by 12+ the club was half full and music was great! it would be better if it was a full club and it wouldn't be so awkward partying and having the waiters looking at you cause they don't have much to do - not many clubbers. but i'm sure it would be packed during the weekends :D good set Aaron!

and that was my last nite! got home around 3am, slept till 10am+ and had a simple lunch with Godma at home. she had a mahjong appointment, so she left and i took my time to pack. i wasn't done with IKEA, so i decided to finish my trip there before i headed home. it's nice to walk around IKEA yourself but then, tiring too if u needed to carry everything by yourself.. lol
the drive home was kinda lonely, but i had Aaron's mix to keep me company. felt like doozing off afew times but dun worry, i did make a stop at one of the R&R and had a 15 min shut eye - that did the job! :D had some teh tarik, fruits and i was good to go again. i reached home in the evening - just intime for dinner.
so that was my trip. wished i could stay a lil longer but had to work and the $$ was limited... so yea... but it was good to see Godma again, ex-Datacom fellas, Albert, Andre and Aaron (3 As? hahaha) again. next trip, don't know when, but hope to see the rest of the gang and peeps from Urbanattic too! missed u guys!

quick updates

just a quick short updates on how i'm doing... not bad cause i've got some "distractions"... first up, over-the-sea cousin came for a short trip, it was good to have met the both of them (missing the kids though.. ) and having adults only around, lots of subjects were covered... hehehe...

first, i just had to make that trip to KL again, just to "refuel"... i did feel better after that trip as i've did some serious spilling to some victims... i really appreciate you guys for listening, that's what i needed...

as usual, i paid a visit to Albert for detailing, then some ol friends, then of course the Dlinkers (or what's left of it), then finally met up with a FB "poker" friend (regretted not meeting earlier when i was in KL)

of course, i had to visit Urbanattic, i think that's gonna be my hangout spot in KL! :) that night i went (with Monica) it was Fashion Flirt, first time attending a fashion show and sitting just AT the catwalk! how cool is that, but then.. i don't really fancy the clothes, it's abit TOO colourful for me and i bet they don't have my size, so i'm not bothered... company was great, managed to meet up with Monica for a while and of course Luna, Ramesh, Chocky and some from the gang.

with Monica

with Luna

then before i left KL to go back to Penang, i fetched my cousin Tom from England another over-the-sea cousin. so he, my godma and i all went back to "Middle Hill" together in my humble whitey :)

tbh, i was kinda nervous in meeting Tom, cause he's only 18+ and i have no idea what 18 year olds like to do and/or talk about... but because of our frequent FB messages and sms's i got comfortable with him and yea, he's such a fun guy to be with - he makes me feel young!! O_O hahahah...

and back in Penang, as USUAL when over-the-sea relatives come to visit us, we the Penang family, will ALWAYS bring them out to EAT!!!!! yea man!!! not one meal, two or three, but EVERY HOUR! hahaha (ok maybe i'm exaggerating.. a lil... hehehe). i think i'll let Cheryl to tell the makan story!

with Tom at Swatow Lane aka New World Park

at Gurney Drive hawker stalls

the 3 cousins!

because my working hrs/days are abit weird, i got some free time during the week, so Tom's been handed to me from Cheryl and family... hehehe... and since they were feeding him non-stop, i decided to starve him instead! hahaha nah... i meant, i'll let Anna wow him with her cooking this time. yea, eversince Tom reached penang, he never tasted Anna's cooking!!
and! since he has yet to visit Batu Ferringhi, i brought him there to soak up the Penang sun (and for myself too!! hahaha bad idea actually, cause i got burnt in 3 hrs or so!!)

Tom's having some sum boi

the cam whore at work! LOL

yup i made him do hand stands!

AND... it seems like it's starting to be a tradition, i took him to SS (Slippery Senoritas). tradition you asked? well.... few years before, his elder brother Terry paid us a visit, i brought him clubbing (the Cafe.. i think, i can't remember) then, later when his elder sister Talullah came too, i brought her to GLO (at The Garage) and now!! i HAD to bring Tom clubbing (cause if not, it'll be unfair to him) to SS!... i think he enjoyed himself, but i know the drinks are teeny weeny bit expensive...

at SS
it's been swell, meeting up with Lynn, with my KL friends, ol friends and new, AND Tom! they have been great, they've been supportive, layan-ed me and took my mind of things. i really appreaciate it, and i thank all of them for it. i do miss my current friends though, but then i guess the timing's not right as they have something on going for them.. but i guess i'll see them.. soon.. i think, i hope...
it's been a month, and i never went a day without missing you. yes it will take a very long while to move on and stop missing you but i'm still glad that we had our time and memories together and i'll always cherish that. it's gonna be hard for me at times but i know its something i need to go through. i will always love you and i pray that u're safe, well, and that good things will happen to you...

hoping that dose would last

my trip to kl was splendid, saw the team i adore, caught up with news, saw noreen and lil one in the tummy, saw an old friend, went to the spa, detailed my car - it's CLEAN again!, caught up with the gang from Urbanattic AND finally saw my english cousin after all those FB wall-to-wall messages!! LOL
it was very hectic, driving half the time, stuck in traffic but it was alright. familiar friendly faces, familiar places... but something was missing this trip - KL food! yeah, i didn't indulge in the food here, no bloody time!!! in fact, when i came home, i lost 1kg!! O_O
but having my cousin with me, the penang family will be feeding him like nobody's business and at the same time feed ourselves, so which means, i can say hello again to that missing 1kg! sigh... oh well..
how am i feeling? still like that la.. it will all come back when i'm alone, at this moment, i'm glad that my cousin's here, cause he takes my mind off stuff, he's been great... i'm just afraid of the day he leaves, who will then take my mind off stuff? just hope i won't be back to where i was about 1 month ago, i still can't do this alone...

Company Annual Dinner - Cultural Night

finally, my company organised an annual dinner, just one month ago.. it seemed the big fella forgot all about it... so the main organisers started to panic and called for some urgent help in organising the dinner. noreen and moi volunteered and it was some experience...

it was held at Crown Princes.. haven't been there before and i got a shock when i reached there early friday to help set up the hall.. the hall was HUGE i tell you!!! omg.... i don't think hotels in penang have this such large hall...

the hotel prep was ok.. nice setting, formal, sweet... couldn't help to take some pics...

here's our set of deco... the theme was cultural night... sorry but i didn't have any cultural costume on....

so since i was in the organising team, and didn't really have much to do though i did say alot at the meetings, i sat at the reception table to take down the attendance of the ppl coming in for the dinner... luckily i had some help as ppl tend to come in HUGE groups and i couldn't handle them... especially when i couldn't find their names in the list and don't really know them...

at the reception table

didn't know what to wear, thanks to Daisy for her suggestion of combination and shawl

with some of the Dlinkers

with Veronica, one of the organising team member and an ex-CBMer!

cam whoring with Noreen

with the Dlinkers
one of our BIG boss - Micah in an aussie "cultural" outfit - Croc Hunter!
our very own Dlinker - Fauzi won the Best Dressed award!
food was ok.. though it was cold and i didn't have much to eat, was busy taking pics and the only thing i didn't get to try was the desert... :(
the night was ok, though very tiring, it was good that the night turned out ok... wonder what's happening next year...
